Toton & Chetwynd East Midlands

A new vision for Toton & Chetwynd

The proposed closure of the historic Chetwynd Barracks and the start of works at Toton gives the opportunity to regenerate and reimagine communities on the borders of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.

Initial plans include the development of cycle pathways, green spaces, new schools, healthcare facilities and modern communities which offer affordable and carbon neutral homes.

These ambitious plans aim to create jobs, housing and transport links, connecting old and new communities over the next 20 years.

Toton is one of the best-connected places in the UK, equally distant from Derby and Nottingham, on the M1, within a few miles of East Midlands Airport. It is set to have a new mainline station that will connect to existing networks. Derby and Nottingham city centres will be a 12-minute hop by conventional rail shuttle services and there will be direct services to the wider region.
